Duck
River Speedway & Winchester Speedway
Big 10 Steel Head Super Series
Tim
Smith and Jim Hastings of Duck River Speedway along with Tim Smith (Huntland,
TN.) of Winchester Speedway have agreed to join forces and expand Duck
River
Speedway's
very successful 2002 Big 6 Steel Head series in the upcoming 2003 racing
season.
During
the 2002 Big 6 series drivers from five states competed in the series.
The 2002 Big 6 races all paid $1,500 to win and $60 to start. The Points
fund was distributed to the Top 10 finishers in the title chase.
Duck
River Speedway and Winchester Speedway owners have been busy working out
an agreement to expand the Big 6 series into a 10 event series in 2003
with five shows each at Duck River Speedway and Winchester Speedway. The
Points fund goal is $10,000 instead of $5,000 (the series will start
with a $5,000 points fund and will be increased for every race entry
during all ten events with the goal being $10,000 minimum based on an
average car count of 25 racers per show) in 2003.
The
2003 Big 10 Super Series point fund will be split among the Top 15
racers instead of just the Top 10. Also the 2003 Big 10 series will have
increased purses in the $1,500 to win shows (a $490 increase with a
minimum of $100 to start / increase is in positions 9, 11 and 13 through
24)). There will be six of these shows (3 at each track) and there will
also be four $3,000 to win and $300 to start Big 10 shows!
The
2003 Big 10 Steel Head Super series will utilize the same rules as the
2002 Big 6 series with two exceptions. A $250 Protest on MSD ignition
boxes has been added and any driver in the Top 5 in points may protest
(last season only Top 5 race finishers could protest the race winner).
Basic rules are 362 Steel Head, flat top piston engines with any intake
manifold. Rear tires must durometer 60 or greater when cold. Rules may
be viewed at DRS web site
www.duckriverspeedway.com

The
